One is located in downtown historic Bennington, Vermont, and the second one is located at the northern end of the state in Burlington, Vermont. From the West (NY) to Potters Yard If you're traveling from northern and western NY, getting to Potters Yard in Bennington, VT is quite simple. First, using I-90E to I-787N, or I-87N to I-787N, or simply I-87S, make your way to Troy, NY, and Rte. 7 east. From Troy, NY take Rte. 7E to Bennington, VT. Look for signs for downtown Bennington, not North Bennington. As you come into downtown Bennington, still on Rte. 7, you'll pass through one set of lights. Continue for about 3/4 of a mile (you'll pass the popular Blue Benn Dining Car restaurant on your right) and at the next set of lights turn left onto County Street. Potters Yard is 1/4 mile on the left. From the East (NH) to Potters Yard Take Rte. 9 from Keene NH to Brattleboro, VT. After you cross over the Connecticut River into Vermont, pass straight through the rotary and get onto I-91 south. Take I-91 south one exit (Exit 2). At the end of off-ramp turn right onto Rte. 9 west towards Wilmington/Bennington, VT. Travel on Rte. 9W for approximately 20 miles to Wilmington, VT. Pass straight through Wilmington and continue on Rte. 9W to Bennington. As you come down off the mountain into downtown Bennington, at the third set of traffic lights, turn right onto Rte. 7N. Continue for four blocks and turn right onto County Street. Potters Yard is 1/4 mile on the left. From the South (NYC, CT, MA) to Potters Yard From NYC and Westchester County, NY make your way to I-95N or the Merrit Parkway North to I-91 north in CT. Take I-91N from CT through MA and into VT. After you enter VT continue north and take Brattleboro Exit 2. At the end of off-ramp turn right onto Rte. 9 west towards Wilmington/Bennington, VT. Travel on Rte. 9W for approximately 20 miles to Wilmington, VT. Pass straight through Wilmington and continue on Rte. 9W to Bennington. As you come down off the mountain into downtown Bennington, at the third set of traffic lights, turn right onto Rte. 7N. Continue for four blocks and turn right onto County Street. Potters Yard is 1/4 mile on the left. Potters Yard is approximately 5 hours from NYC. From Northern Vermont to Potters Yard Take I-89 and I-91 south to Brattleboro Exit 2. At the end of off-ramp turn right onto Rte. 9 west towards Wilmington/Bennington, VT. Travel on Rte. 9W for approximately 20 miles to Wilmington, VT. Pass straight through Wilmington and continue on Rte. 9W to Bennington. As you come down off the mountain into downtown Bennington, at the third set of traffic lights, turn right onto Rte. 7N. Continue for four blocks and turn right onto County Street. Potters Yard is 1/4 mile on the left. You can also take Rte. 7 south from Burlington, VT all the way to Bennington, which is a beautiful day trip, especially during the fall foliage season, but be sure to leave early, as it's generally a 3-1/2 drive.
