About the Walking Tour
Step back in time to see the elegant homes, colorful families and industrious workers that made Bennington pottery possible. The production of pottery in Bennington Vermont has been a driving force behind the economy since the town was settled in the eighteenth century.
This self-guided tour starts at the Potters Yard on County Street and ends on the corner of School and Pleasant Street, or it can be reversed by starting at Pleasant Street. For over 200 years Bennington has been a center for quality pottery making. Today, the Potters Yard embodies that tradition with goods created in a traditional and hands-on manner reminiscent of times-gone-by.
The Potters Yard is located three blocks north of Bennington's Main Street and the Four Corners. There is ample parking at both ends of the tour. Click on the map and look for the "P" designations.
For those who enjoy a walk, the tour takes an hour, covering about a half mile from the Potters Yard to Pleasant Street. Wear comfortable shoes and layered clothing in case the weather changes. Driving is also an option. If you drive, do it at a leisurely pace.
