"I use your pottery every day and have done so for 20+ years. As a part-time artist in several forms (painting, glassware, jewelry) the Bennington is ALWAYS my first choice for personal cooking... Thanks so much for the quality you have produced over the years." Christina G., Moore, SC |

The Cider Set
As I wandered around the Potters Yard Store at Bennington Potters looking for the perfect gift, I spotted a hand-painted, large coffee mug set apart from all the other beautiful mugs. It was truly a unique mug. It was painted with colors of the autumn landscape - even some sky - and the colors flowed beautifully over the form of the mug. What was it about that mug that I liked so much? Then it hit me! It reminded me of pottery my Gram had painted years ago. It was very much the rage for women to take classes where they painted on fine china, and my Grandmother was a fine artist. She was quite talented and did many wonderful oil paintings that we grew up with. So, when she joined one of those classes, she excelled at creating her own spectacular designs on china. No run of the mill copy works for her! One set in particular came to mind as I chose a set of those Mt Equinox American Classic mugs as my wedding gift. It was what was then called a cider set. It was rosy in color with the same autumn hues as the Mt Equinox mugs I had in hand. The mugs were just as capacious, and the set had a matching pitcher. As that thought came to me, I spotted a large pitcher called Molly Pitcher's pitcher with the same hand painted glaze! Hey - I would make a cider set out of the Mt Equinox art pottery and have an absolutely stunning gift! Thanks Gram!
