A Great Find
Her gnarly fingers wrapped around the mug so that she could pick it up. She had long since lost the ability to pick it up by the handle. She hated that her arthritis had become so limiting. The mug had to be a certain size too. Too large and she couldn't lift it at all. Many of the tea mugs that she owned she just couldn't use at all anymore. And she loved to drink tea. The warmth of the tea made the pain in her hands a little better. The stoneware mugs she used to use were the best. They held the heat longer and felt like little heating pads to Peg. Unfortunately she could no longer use those. Her daughter Mary brought her a gift one Sunday afternoon that changed everything. "Remember Bennington Pottery?" Mary asked. Well of course I do she answered having lived most of her adult life in Bennington, Vermont. "Well then you'll probably remember their famous Trigger mugs too." She did. Mary gave her a brown paper shopping bag to open. In it, carefully wrapped in tissue were four blue agate Trigger mugs. She wondered why her daughter had given her a gift of more useless mugs. "Try these." Mary said, filling one with hot tea. Much to her surprise, Peg realized that she could not only fit two fingers into the pistol grip so that she could hold it securely, but that the mug was light enough for her to lift! She had her stoneware heater back!!!! What a find! And what a great gift for others in the same boat as me she thought!
