This generous stoneware pitcher is our largest!
Let her charm you as she serves up hot mulled cider or stands regally filled with fresh flowers. Our largest pitcher, with a four-quart capacity, it is named after local heroine Molly Stark, famous for her efforts in the Battle of Bennington. Durable as you'd expect from Bennington Potters.

Our #9906 Molly Stark Pitcher is 8"W x 11-1/2" H and is a 4 quart capacity.

A Revolutionary Tall Tale!

On a visit to the Bennington Battle Monument while on a Vermont vacation, I was staring at the little battlefield dioramas in the entrance when I fell into a trance imagining how my heroines could have met... Across bullet-swept ground, skirts fluttering in the wind, their eyes met. General Stark's wife Molly - there to nurse the troops - handed Mary Hays McCauley her handmade stoneware pitcher. Mary carried pitcher after pitcher of cool spring water to the front lines to pour over the hot guns and down the parched throats of the exhausted soldiers. Molly being a common nickname for Mary, the soldiers soon nicknamed Mary - Molly Pitcher. Not many women are mentioned during the Revolutionary War – Molly Pitcher and Molly Stark are two that are! Waking from my trance, it was time to continue on to Bennington Potters where I was pleasantly surprised to find something named after those two great ladies - a handmade stoneware Molly Stark/Molly Pitchers pitcher! Of course I had to have one! I left feeling my tall tale might not have been so farfetched – who knows?
