ABOUT US
"Thank you, thank you, thank you for still making dinnerware proudly made in the USA and without lead or cadmium. I will feel so much better when I can start feeding my family on USA dinnerware that is safe. Until recently, I never gave a thought to what was in my dinnerware – then became aware that lots of them (especially from China) have lead and/or cadmium in the dishes that can leach into food. My gosh, we’ve been eating off these things for 6 years! Well, that’s gonna change!"

Molly Stark Pitcher

This generous stoneware pitcher is our largest!
If you are out & about in Southern Vermont, chances are you'll see inns, trails, schools, roadways and plaques bearing homage to "Molly Stark". Molly Stark was General Stark's wife and made her home in Dunbarton, NH. General Stark captured a famous old cannon here while under command at the Battle of Bennington and "Old Molly", so affectionately named, currently resides in loving retirement in New Boston, NH. Our own "Molly Stark Pitcher" is a nod to our historical past, yet it is very current, very useful and a very artistic example of one of our most graceful shapes. We like to think of our "Molly" as a kind of living legend of her own...

Our #9906 Molly Stark Pitcher is 8"W x 11-1/2" H and is a 4 quart capacity.

A Revolutionary Tall Tale!

On a visit to the Bennington Battle Monument while on a Vermont vacation, I was staring at the little battlefield dioramas in the entrance when I fell into a trance imagining how my heroines could have met... Across bullet-swept ground, skirts fluttering in the wind, their eyes met. General Stark's wife Molly - there to nurse the troops - handed Mary Hays McCauley her handmade stoneware pitcher. Mary carried pitcher after pitcher of cool spring water to the front lines to pour over the hot guns and down the parched throats of the exhausted soldiers. Molly being a common nickname for Mary, the soldiers soon nicknamed Mary - Molly Pitcher. Not many women are mentioned during the Revolutionary War – Molly Pitcher and Molly Stark are two that are! Waking from my trance, it was time to continue on to Bennington Potters where I was pleasantly surprised to find something named after those two great ladies - a handmade stoneware Molly Stark/Molly Pitchers pitcher! Of course I had to have one! I left feeling my tall tale might not have been so far-fetched – who knows?
